I hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend; I have two days off which never happens so I certainly am! Fall has really begun here. Several trees have already dropped their leaves and many are fully turned. Most are still marching towards the halfway mark and even those who are still mostly green show at least some sign of change. It’s definitely getting cooler here; we had our first frosts of the season this week and you can certainly tell that winter is on its way.
Although we went pumpkin picking a few weeks ago it wasn’t til this week that we carved our pumpkins; some of them, when we opened them up, had ice crystals inside which was a sure sign of the change in the weather in the past few weeks. We also went apple picking recently and came home several pounds. Besides just munching on them we made several recipes: apple pie (twice!), apple cake (also twice!), apples and onions, and apple and butternut squash soup. We also made a pumpkin curry which was good so we are certainly in the fall spirit at my house!
Besides the change in weather there hasn’t been much else going on. I’m still reading though, and managed to finish two books this week. I thought, that, in honor of fall arriving I would post a few pictures from our pumpkin picking expedition from a few weeks ago.
