About a horse and a carrot

Welcome to a horse and a carrot and my little corner of the blogosphere! This page will hopefully help you learn a little more about me and what you can expect from my blog.
Who: My name is Hillary, or hillarypat if you would prefer to go by my user name. I am currently completing my last semester of college here in the Sunshine State. – I graduated in may 2012. I am a history major with a minor in Spanish. I like books, music, movies, and pretty much anything else a college student would generally be interested in. While I have enjoyed my college career it is almost time to leave and officially grow up, if such a thing is even possible. I currently have no concrete plans as to what I will be doing when I graduate a scary proposition considering that May is only five short months away!
The Name: my blog’s name, a horse and a carrot, does not really have any particular meaning other than the fact that horses are my favorite animals and that right before I created this blog I had been eating carrots. The name just came to me on a whim and I typed it in before I thought much about it. Upon reflection, however, I think the name suits me as it describes two important things about me: I love horses (and all animals really) and I love food.
The Blog: this blog will mostly consist of my thoughts about life, school, and growing up. In this sense it will function like a standard blog. But I also want this blog to be used for another purpose. You see, I have a confession: I am addicted to book blogs. I love books so I guess this is really no surprise that I like reading book blogs. The surprise is how much I like reading them. Having come to the conclusion that I spend more time reading book blogs then I do reading I decided drastic action had to be taken. I by no means mean to stop reading my beloved book blogs but, hopefully with a blog of my own it will encourage me to read more books instead of just reading about them. I plan to blog about the books I am reading, the books I want to read, and thoughts about books in general. That being said, I am new to blogging so who knows what will transpire.
Community: Reading books and blogging about them is all well and good but having people to talk to about reading and blogging about books is even better. So if you have something to say, say it! Don’t be afraid to comment! It’s always nice to know that someone  is reading what you’ve written and that your writing isn’t just being sucked into an internet black hole.
So that’s it, really. Welcome to a horse and a carrot!
A note about images on my blog: all pictures of book covers come from Goodreads. If a picture is not taken by me, then it is from Wikki Commons.
